***NEW*** Is it HBO, or just TV? The most well-reasoned argument I've seen so far. HERE

HBO has so far failed to exercise its options on the cast's contracts for a fourth season of "Deadwood".  The drop dead date to do so is June 11, 2006, which is also the date on which Season Three premieres.

This means no Season Four, even though Season Three had already finished production when the decision was made!

It's not necessary to explain on this page why Deadwood shouldn't be cancelled.  You know why you're here.

The only chance to change this is to contact the cable companies and HBO directly and make your feelings known.  Be Polite!  However, if you sincerely intend to cancel HBO because of this decision, do not hesitate to make that clear.

1. Call your cable/satellite provider.  Tell them you have read that Deadwood is to be cancelled, that you have already contacted HBO directly, and that you intend to cancel your HBO subscription if Deadwood is not renewed before the new season begins.  The cable cos. get roughly a 50% split of the subscriber fee for HBO, so they are a pressure point worth pursuing.

2. On HBO's Website: CLICK HERE.

3. By Phone: HBO's Consumer Affairs Department 212-512-1208 (Monday through Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Time)

5. Contact a Deadwood-friendly television critic at your local metropolitan newspaper and/or television station.  Express your opinion and mention that fans are trying to coordinate support at this website. ( http://www.savedeadwood.net )  It probably helps if you live in their local circulation area.

6. Purchase an issue of an entertainment-oriented magazine and/or go to its website, for example, Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide. Express your opinion to its "editors" and/or forums and mention that fans are trying to coordinate support at this website. (  http://www.savedeadwood.net )

7. Join the discussion on the HBO boards, here.  If you have contacted HBO, post what you wrote, it may help others compose their own messages.

"Pain or damage don’t end the world, or despair or f*****’ beatin’s.  The world ends when you’re dead.  Until then, you got more punishment in store.  Stand it like a man—and give some back."  Al Swearingen, as written by Jody Worth.
